Team Guide:
Teams formed for CSS need to know that they won’t be the best straight away, these teams need patience and a lot of hard work to become the best. A team needs 3 things, committed players, a good leader, and patience. Without one of these three things the team is destined to fail.

Committed Players:
For a team to be successful they need players who are willing to practice virtually every day, this means not only practice as a team, but on their own, they need to understand that their individual skill is just as important as the team’s unity.
Good Leader:
A good leader is vital, a leader needs not only to lead by example, but do all the little tasks that the team needs. These include getting the team on to practice, finding wars, working out strats, and calling the strats and what to do as a team during the game.
Patience:
Well what good is a team who can’t stand losing and just call it quits once they lose a match? All the top teams lose matches on occasions. Losing a match can be one of the best things to happen to your team, it’s a great way to learn what you did wrong and where you need to improve.

Knowing the map:
Knowing the map as a team is essential, knowing what each part of the map is called so that you can easily call where the enemy is or where you are and need some help.
Knowing all the meeting points on the map is also important so you can use your grenades and flashes effectively, and also so you know roughly the area that an enemy could be.

Strats:
When it comes to strats, there are two types of teams. There are teams who work the map with a pick and play style, and teams who work off strong teamwork.

Pick and Play:
A pick and play style of game can be virtually unstoppable if your team can make the all important pick. Not only is it virtually impossible to counter strat what the team is going to do, but because there is no real set plan from these teams, it becomes very hard to predict what they are going to do even late on in the round.
Although effective, pick and play is very hard to do successfully, not only because you need to be incredibly quick with your aim, but because the other team will be set up waiting for you to come out from your picking spot.
For the pick and play to be successful, it is ideal to have two players who get the picks (also known as fraggers) two players to go with the two fraggers and cover them with flashes and grenades when necessary (these are the support players) and a strong sniper to get long range picks where needed. This sort of setup done correctly is very effective.

Team based strats:
This is where CSS can become too complicated for what it should be. Team based strats need each player to know what they are doing, when, and how, this is fine if all players do what they should do correctly, where you see teams falter in this is when they make their strats far to complicated, simple strats are the most effective when done correct, not only because simple strats allow some margin for error, but because simple strats allow the players to also play their own game rather than worry to much about the team. A good mix between solid team work and good individual skill is what makes teams who work off strats the best.
