Queensland AINC Qualifiers Preview
esjay has taken the time to write a preview for the QLD AINC Quals
LS Arena 2007 with be the first in an annual event that looks to bring hundreds of gamers together in Queensland, Australia. Lansmash is Queensland’s premier LAN-organization and the LS arena, to be held at the famous Chandler Aquatic pool (Sleeman Center) will attract almost 500 gamers into what is sure to be an exciting event. Initial reports say that the center is big enough for at least another 200 people and has a power supply for 700 computers. The event is attracting many gamers from the leisure player to the hardcore gamer and it is a great socializing network.
More information on LanSmash can be found at their website - http://www.lansmash.com
The Queensland Counter-Strike: Source community in conjunction with the Anything Interactive National Cup (AINC) will be hosting the Queensland qualifiers at this event away from their usual home at the Bunker. The event will have two dedicated admins, Matt (DrPecker) and Ben (RumACS) ensuring that the event is run smoothly.

5. Efficient B
6. Addict
7. Mockers
8. Team Noxious
9. Team Mediocre
10. Ladiesmen
11. TBA
Team Encore
Tegsc zp0r boomser FlaBboY d1gz
Seeding: 1
Expected Finish: 1-2
Recent Achievements: Winner GotGames Professional online competition, Tegs All Australian.
This team is practically assured a top2 finish, even with the strength and depth shown in the Queensland area these boys just have too much skill and talent to be challenged by anyone else other than redux. Encore are coming off a solid season in GG-Pro were they capped off by taking Imminent out in the grand final in a spectacular match. They are reeling a little with the loss of long-time members Striker and Deathsbane but the pick-up of teg's younger brother Boomser and FlaBboY means that as they get their team-work together they will just improve and improve. There is not one player who you don't want to watch in this lineup, but Chris 'D1gz' Cheung will be my player of the team with his ability to play emotionlessly he is ever-consistent even when the plays are going the wrong way.
Team Redux
Trickc ox1 shadzke refuzed shark
Seeding: 2
Expected Finish: 1-3
Recent Achievements: Final Series GotGames Professional online competition, Ox1 All Australian.
Redux have a strong chance in this competition to challenge Encore for that free trip to Melbourne, but the biggest question is will their new lineup gel or was losing Rymeske a huge mistake. Lead by the ever capable Trick, Redux (formerly Virtue (formerly Infernal)) had a great maiden year in the top level of CS:S in Australia laughing all the way to the Final series where they were eventually knocked out by winners and staunch rivals Team Encore. Saying that this is the LAN arena and they have a fresh lineup to what has been seen here in Queensland. The pick-up of ex-GTeSports refused ‘who has done it on lan’ will do nothing but help their chances, this is their chance to get revenge on encore for their final loss in this last season and I’m sure the boys are licking their lips at the opportunity to square up. Ox1dize who has recently represented Australia will be my player of the team as his aim and clue has been one of the major strong points for this team.
Efficient A
Aviate Macl3od Giant Messiah Requiem
Seeding: 3
Expected Finish: 2-5
Efficient A host a pool of talent that should see Efficient lifted into the invite leagues next season. Macca and Messiah will be flying up from NSW directly for this event and Requiem, Giant and Aviate are all QLD lan regulars. Time will tell if they will have the goods to topple the top2 seeds, with a very confident lethal (formerly of GMethod) stating,
“We have a fair chance of beating Redux.â€
Player of the team for me is definitely Aviate who is not as well known in the online community but holds a powerful deagle/awp combination that can bring any team crumbling to the knees.
Team Fury
PBX PaDz Eileen Daki Harmless
Seeding: 4
Expected Finish: 3-6
Recent Achievements: Runner-up GotGames Intermediate League
The most feared girl in Australian CS:S and the most feared kid in Australian CS:S – Team Fury in a nutshell. Fury is coming of a great season in the GotGames Intermediate competition losing in the final to Advantage but shaking things up along the way. They will be hurt by the loss of Kermit to RVG for lan but they will be there as always to be more than a wooden spooner. Player of the team is PaDz, but everyone knows that.
Efficient B
CTD lethil D^ny Saf TiE
Seeding: 5
Expected Finish: 4-6
Recent Achievements: Saf getting engaged
The second of the Efficient team’s should challenge in this competition. Let by their fearless leader lethil and there frag-bringers CTD and TiE they should have a good competition. They don’t have the overall level of fire-power as the teams above them but they do have a good solid line-up. TiE is a recent pickup from #liQt and his aim should keep him near the top of the scoreboard in every game he plays. The player of the team will definitely be CTD with his charm and aim will be bringing back painful memories of the powerful !nduced days.
Addict
Esjay D_Ducky G_Ducky Token Killtacular Jdog
Seeding: 6
Expected Finish: 4-7
Addict has the chance to pull a few upsets and be the surprise bolter of the competition. The two duckies are unbelievable to watch when they are together and they shall pack an extra punch for this team. With Token from #liQt and Killtacular from #blitzkreig they are building a solid lineup that with the right amount of practice they can easily get into the top5. Their biggest Achilles Heel will be lack of practice and if esjay gets to play. Player of the team will be Token who should do very well.
Mockers
Rodez Popinjay Shuggy Hef TBA
Seeding: 7
Expected Finish: 5-8
Little is known about the Mockers other then that they only just recently converted to CS:S. They have received such a low ranking because of their lack of game-time both online and onlan. This will be one of the teams who will show up on the day and prove their worth, there is no practice run for the mockers.
Team Noxious
Fury Hectic Fazz Emery EmanueL
Seeding: 8
Expected Finish: 7-10
Team Noxious arose from the dust mere days ago from free agents looking for teams for the AINC quals. The team looks like they will be lacking the skill and practice to emerge anywhere near the top of this competition but they will give it a go and hopefully from this first experience they will rise into a respected clan, good luck to them.
Team Mediocre
Sorwyn Frednaut Project2501 Ashigaru Hinga
Seeding: 9
Expected Finish: 9-10
Team Mediocre is just that – Mediocre. But that is okay for this gaming community who prides itself in having a fun and enjoyable time. TM started with leader Sorwyn making the Gamespace team, Sorwyn who is an GameSpace op himself has made this into a large community and they have supported the QLD lan system for along time. These guys will be there to play their hardest and have a good time. Player of the team will be their captain Sorwyn.
Ladiesmen
Esjay spuddog major_tom moment killer TBA
Seeding: Deadlast
Expected Finish: Deadlast
The ladiesmen tradition started back at Sunshine Coast lans and has now grown to Brisbane lans. Just a group of mates looking to leech stuff, have an enjoyable time and camp spawn, expect them to have a hard time beating the BYE. Player to watch is esjay – possibly the only player who wont donut.
Thank-you to everyone who had read this, good luck to all teams next Saturday and GAME ON!!
