Defilers CGS Predictions

Winners Bracket

Imminent vs Sequential Gaming

The two power houses of Australian CSS meet up in the next round of CGS to bring what will definitely be match of the tournament thus far. These two teams have had a bit of a rivalry as of late, playing off in the AINC finals to name but one of their affairs. Imminent have long been the powerhouse of Australian Source, however SQL have had a long journey to the top, they have, in my opinion, the best team work in Australian Source, they have based themselves around team work. Imminent on the other hand have based their strats primarily on aim and timed pushes.

The map:
The map for this war is Inferno, this could favour SQL because it is a map that requires very solid team work to win rounds. You can be sure that SQL will have many well timed smokes, flashes and pushes as a unit. Imminent will be primarily looking to make the pick, they will smoke, flash and pick as much as they can, it has been successful for them this far, so why would they change now?

Players to watch:
Topgun: What’s left to say about topgun that hasn’t been said? He is a phenomenal player with great aim and great brain, he is a match winner who is always on the top, or near the top, of the scoreboard.
Dablaster: Although SQL are a highly team work based side, they still need their primary fraggers, dablaster showed why he is one of the best against advantage, he is a good fragger with solid knowledge, he always seems to be in the right place at the right time.

Result:
Well, this is going to be a close, tense game, it will go to the final round and don’t be surprised if it goes in to overtime. Although Imminent have had the upper hand on SQL thus far, I believe SQL may well have what it takes to win this match if they play to their potential. That said, I’d be a fool to pick against Imminent.
Imminent 10 – 8 SQL

Team Fury vs NewType

Wow, who would have thought at the start of this year Team Fury would be where they are? They have put in solid hard work to become a very strong team in Australian Source, because they have played together so long, they have extremely good knowledge of each others game. NewType, New Zealand’s finest, have freakishly good aim, with incredible smarts and loads of experience, they will be looking to utilise this all game against a lesser experiences side in Team Fury. Thus far NewType have not really been tested in this competition, no disrespect to their previous opponents but none of the teams NewType have played had the ability to test them, but come this Sunday, that will all change.

The map:
The map for this war, like the Imminent vs SQL war, is Inferno, you can be sure to see a lot of picking and pushing in this match, both teams will be playing a very similar game type, they will as a unit push forward, take their picks, and move on, the team who can land their picks, will win this game.

Players to watch:
Padz: It seems every time I do a write-up about Team Fury Padz is the person I write about, and why not? He is a brilliant player who is only getting better. For Team Fury to win this match, they’ll need Padz to be on his game and you can be sure that he will be. He not only has incredible aim and quick reflexes, he has the composure and knowledge of a veteran.
Supertech: Supertech has been around for a long time now, he knows exactly what he is coming up against and will be the main man for NewType, although all of NewType have incredible aim and smarts, Supertech is just that one step ahead and will lead by example against Team Fury.

Result:
This will be another close game that could go either way, however I’ll say that NewType’s experience will help them across the line against Team Fury.
Team Fury 7 – 10 NewType

Losers Bracket

Corsairs vs Zero Remorse

Two teams that have gone under big line-up changes in the last few weeks, they will have a tough time when it comes to team work. This match will come down to which line-up has clicked faster and which team can out frag the other team. This match won’t be pretty to watch, but both teams will do what they have to do effectively.

The map:
The map for the losers bracket is also Inferno which will make team work all the more important, whichever team can stick their strats will win this game.

Players to watch:
Dash: Dash is an incredible player, he has great aim and good smarts, he will lead by example in this match and if he can play well, corsairs will win this match.
Yipes: A real veteran of the game, yipes has been in many different clans, probably most well known from StipeGT, yipes knows what he is doing, and will do what he does best and that’s kill.

Result:
After the performance ZR gave against Xtrip, you can bet your bottom dollar that they will be on a high, with Corsairs coming off a big loss to Imminent, ZR will have to much over Corsairs.
Corsairs 8 – 10 Zero Remorse

Advantage vs Ichor

This is going to be a super match, Advantage have looked very impressive thus far, although they lost to SQL they showed that they are a quality team who on their day can beat any team in Australia. Ichor have shown that they can grind out results, losing to Team Fury was a bit of a let down for them, however they came back in super fashion beating Halcyon in over time. Ichor will be very focused on aim, and I know from personal experience that advantage too will focus on aim, however they have extremely good team work which comes from playing together for a long time.

The Map:
A very team based map will not favour Ichor, they are not a real team and this means they won’t have their team work as well drilled as advantage will, Ichor will be relying on aim, if they can make their picks, they will win, if they get out picked, it’s going to be a very one sided affair.

Players to watch:
Digz: A super player with a great all round game, he will have to be on fire for Ichor to have any chance at this game, his ability to motivate a team just by his actions is enough to win wars.
Rize: If Rize plays, and I assume he will, he will definitely be one to watch, he has shown in the many teams he has played for that he is one of the best, and although he had a bellow par performance against SQL you can be sure he will be back to his best come this match.

Result:
Advantage’s team work and knowledge of each other will be to much for Ichor who will not be as well drilled. Never count out Ichor, but I believe that Advantage will be to strong.
Advantage 10 – 5 Ichor

Uberhive vs Czar

Well Czar, my own team, this match should be a good one with two of the lesser known LAN teams going at it. Uberhive have shown a lot of good work so far this tournament to make it this far, although they where overpowered by NewType they will still be high in confidence. Czar have had a rough patch as of late, getting annihilated by Advantage, but they seem to have pulled together to get back on track. This match will come down to which team can handle the pressure, and which team can work together better and make their strats work.

The map:
A very team based map, you can be sure to see a lot of picking plays and pushes by both teams, it will be interesting to see which team can come out of this one the better.

Players to watch:
Gristy: So far in CGS Gristy has been incredible, always up near the top of the scores, he is a consistent player who has shown that he can play with the best.
Mickos: Well, Mickos, what a player, he is one of the best aimers in the game, you can be sure Czar will need his picking ability to win this game, he seems to always get the first pick in the game, be assured, Czar will utilise this to their advantage.

Result:
This will be a very close game, either team could win it. Because I’m playing I will not make a prediction of this match, feel free to speculate amongst yourselves.

Evolution Australia vs Redux

Redux have had a huge line-up shuffle over the last week, and Evolution Australia have had to remove a couple of their players for CGS who were underage, picking up two extremely good players from fiend. It will be interesting to see what line-up Redux produce for this match because I am not to sure which players in their team are now registered for CGS, either way they will still have a good line-up

The Map:
This map definitely disadvantages Redux, their new line-up has not been together long enough to have good solid strats, Evolution Australia have got their strats pretty well down pat, although they have players from fiend in their team, both teams play a very similar style, thus making their teamwork slightly stronger.

Players to watch:
Makaze: A great player from Tasmania, he has been around forever and has proven himself as a top player in Australia, he has great aim and gets some amazing kills. You can be sure he will be on fire for this war.
Refuzed: One of the highest sensitivities I’ve seen around, refuzed pulls off incredible shots with great positioning skills, he is the total package and will have to be on fire for Redux to come out with a win.

Result:
I just don’t feel Redux will have what it takes to win this match, they have been hit with a bombshell this week with the loss of their key players, and I feel they wont be ready for this one
Evolution Australia 10 – 5 Redux
