WA AINC Preview

WA AINC WRITEUP

Its that time of the year again, well not really, but you know what I mean. Finally a national competition for the game we all love, and sometimes hate with a passion. The very first REAL source nationals (obviously not counting that shitty BYOPC lan that we shall never speak of) and how excited we all are to be apart of it.

Since the very start Source has been on the receiving end of some fairly heavy flak. The old school cs players bagged it out thoroughly after the disgrace that was WCG05. It was clear the game wasn’t ready for competitive play, but here we are, not 2 years later, and after many many many updates, we finally feel comfortable enough to hold a national event.

The hype that has been created in WA alone has blown everyone away, teams practicing well into the night trying to be the best, to hopefully secure a berth in the finals to be held at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre.

So here it is, a quick run down of the teams that are to be competing in the WA event and their seeding placement:
(I’m just doing seedings of how I see them to be, so don’t flame me if you think they are wrong because its my opinion)

ADVANTAGE:

Line-up: Adz, Reno, Ren, Sikstar, Mister
Impact Players: Adz Reno Ren

Team rundown:
First up we have the favourites of the WA css scene. Coming from some fairly huge online teams, (reno and ren in hobo, sikstar and mister playing together in various eastern state clans, and adz just generally being online god) this team has everything it takes to probably win the national comp. With slick team work and extremely good aim, advantage have taken it to all teams in Australia at one time or another. However a streak of inactivity with various players not being online enough (ME), the juggernaut that was advantage ground to a halt. Losing both GG-I finals and then 2 walinerz competition matches has really given them a kick in the shins. Dry runs and lots of scrims have seen them starting to get back into the dominant form that saw them go 6-1 in the GG league and dominate most teams fairly comfortably in WA.

DYSLEXXIC:

Line-up: Fbl Tweakage Skiz 3dn Painkilla
Impact Players: PK Fbl

Team rundown:
Coming in a close 2nd seed, is dyslexxic. After a fair amount of line-up shuffles and kicking of various players, these guys seem to have found a stable line-up that they are happy with, and it certainly shows. Massive improvements in team work, communication, and general sharpness has seen them emerge as a force to be reckoned with. With 3dn the English import calling their strats, and painkilla and tweakage getting those entry frags, it seems these guys have really stepped it up a notch. Finishing 2nd in the WAlinerz competitions, only losing one match, and beating most teams fairly comfortably, these guys are running high on confidence and hopefully can transfer their skill online to the lan environment. PK being formally of NF has a bit of a stigma to lift of being a huge online player, but I’m sure he can really step up and deliver.

SYNCGAMING

Line-up: Subaru AHi ninja phyte^ Fanatic Nashkell X-B|ade envy
Impact Players: Ninja Subaru

Team rundown:
Sync gaming, the most hated clan in WA (no idea why?). But for some reason, they have gotten quite good at winning wars. Finishing on top of the table of the walinerz competition and beating the league favorites advantage, these guys have really come into their own, snapping heads all over the place, with ninja leading the way in randomness. Their 8 man LAN lineup might work against them though, but I have a feeling that the team that will show up on the day will be Subaru, Ahi, Ninja, Fanatic and Nashkell. You wouldn’t think this lineup would be seeded 3rd but these boys get it done. Some really nice chemistry and some fairly decent aim see’s them dominate online wars quite comfortably. The only thing I can see that would work against them is that their LAN performances and online performances haven’t really matched up to date. Dogging various EGN LANs, they really have brought it upon themselves. But hopefully they can put it all behind them and bring the thunder to the quals.

NAPALMFURY

Line-up: Clate, Mephisto, Reliant, Dr Octagon, Talon
Impact Players: Reliant Talon

Team rundown:
I know I know, seeded the supposed “onliners” 4th. But I have a feeling that NF will be bringing their A game to these qualifiers. With old schoolers Reliant, Talon, Mephisto and also the new blood Dr Octagon, it’s a case of whether they can perform on the day. They certainly have the experience with those 3 players mentioned earlier all being apart of competitive cs for quite some time. I don’t really think that they will place top3, having being beaten fairly convincingly in the walinerz competition, and the games that they did win, they scraped through by the skin of their teeth. That being said, I really do hope that they can stick to the highest placed seedings and come away with a few wins under their belt.

ACTIVE

Line-up: Turtz Nipstar Steeplehead Matteh Titan
Impact Players: Nipstar Steeplehead

Team rundown:
Coming in at 5th is the newly formed Active line-up. And boy are they active. Constant scrimming, slut wars and pub play have made these guys extremely sharp. However they lack the chemistry that most of the other teams have, and this will defiantly be their downfall. With turtz as their caller, I really doubt that they put together properly timed and well oiled strats in the time they have before AINC starts. I honestly cant see these guys beating any of the higher seeded teams, and they might even lose to some of the lower seeded teams as well. However, they could get by on pure aim alone, and also with a ton of cs experience between turtz, nipstar and steeplehead could see them get over the line against some of the other clans that have been together for longer. Definitely watch nipstar for some sharp headshots.

SENSES

Line-up: spunj, samyR, default, azza, sniper
Impact Players: Azza Snyper Spunj

Team rundown:
I only seeded these guys at 6th because I have reservations about how hard they will try (probably not at all) but their line-up reeks of skill. With former joLt player spunj leading the way in the source department, and 1.6 heavyweights azza default and snyper, all from WA’s leading 1.6 team DNA, these guys are out to prove that source really is just a shit game. All players having represented WA in 1.6 national competitions, these guys defiantly have the lan experience to really take it to most, if not all teams. However, source is a completely different game to 1.6, so if they think they can just rock up on the day and win it, they certainly have a big surprise in store. If azza’s 1.6 aim transfers to source, then all teams will have their hands full trying to contain his godlike aim. Pug teams generally don’t make it to far in lan competitions however, so I’m tipping that they wont do so great against the proper teams.

CLONE

Line-up: Tal Sgt Fruit Wolfram Steel grimble xan
Impact Players: Tal, Sgt Fruit

Team rundown:
Clone are really going to need their best fraggers, Tal and Sgt Fruit to really really fire up this Sunday if they are to have any chance of making it to the final stages of the competition. I’m not too sure how they will go in a lan environment, but hopefully Sgt Fruit can drop another 35 bomb against all the teams they play. But saying that cs is a team game, so those 2 players are going to need some mad support from Wolfram and Steel if they are to prove themselves in WACS community as a proper lan team.

FUSIONFIVE

Line-up: sk0ney dmk insomniac xplosiv spec ownageinc
Impact Players: Skoney dmk

Team rundown:
Fusion5 will be looking to come to their first competitive lan as a team and to hopefully perform a little bit better then they do online. Not really impressing many people in the walinerz competition, with only 1 win, they will be looking to improve upon this. Skoney, the Godfather of WACS, will try to lead his team by example, being quite proficient at clicking faces on lan, and hopefully dmk and ownageinc can provide some support for their fearless leader as he endeavors to make their first real competitive lan a very good one indeed.

INSANE.AU

Line-up: Mech, Molt, Swatty, QuickBen, migz
Impact Players: Mech Molt

Team rundown:
The insane boys have been praccing up a ridiculous amount. I’ve seen them chilling in vent for the past few weeks scrimming and slut warring all over the shop. Extremely active and also quite decent to boot, these guys defiantly have something to prove to the WACS community. With QuickBen driving down 8 hours from up north (I think), insane won’t want to disappoint him by getting knocked out too early. Hopefully they can pull it all together on game day and notch up a few wins to make it into the finals. However I really don’t see them taking it to teams seeded too high above them. But with OLD OLD schooler Swatty, who played 1.5 with sastroopa and wizzmabob, anything could happen. Hopefully our ethnic friend molt can fire up, because they will need all their players on fire if they are to win games.

INEXCESS

Line-up: prodz malachi seaNN knuckles p4t
Impact Players: Knuckles malachi

Team rundown:
New team on the block Inexcess are really going to struggle winning matches on lan. They have never lanned as a team before, and most teams seeded above them will most probably give them a good and proper beating. First time lanner in seaNN (retaliation) will be the entertainment for the day. I can only see them having a close game with Team-Caek, possibly coming away with the win, but only if their main fraggers, malachi and knuckles can fire up, and take charge.

CAEK

Line-up: Mookie, Kabab, Darkmoose(Sexytime), Jazzman, tonk
Impact Players: Kabab Jazzman

Team rundown:
Caek is the newly formed team, consisting of players from MJ12 and UI, both solid performers in the walinerz main competition, MJ12 actually going undefeated. These guys will struggle to win a game, hopefully they can get easy games to start off with and maybe, just maybe, snatch a game away from INE. But they are there to have fun, and im sure they will have plenty of it. If it was the full MJ12 lineup they would be seeded higher, and quite possibly beat some of the invite teams, but the fact that they are a slut team, will really make them struggle to win rounds, let alone games. Sorry guys :S

Unconfirmed Teams:

DAWGS: spunj, bladeflanker, ds, seb, smeeeee

FARMERZ: Zebo, trance, nf, vrossy, kavu, zodiac

Not really sure that these teams will show up. So I won’t do a writeup for them.

FINAL STANDINGS

Its really up in the air as to who will be top 4 in this competition. The race to win the qualifiers and gain entrance to the first source national event will be neck and neck all the way. I can see about 4-5 teams having some really close games. But in the end it will come down to who will bring the thunder on game day, where it counts. You can do all the shit-talk and banter you like, but all that matters is making those shots.

1st - ADVANTAGE
2nd - DYSLEXXIC
3rd - NAPALMFURY
4th - SYNC-GAMING
5th - SENSES
6th - ACTIVE
7th - FARMERZ
8th - INSANE
9th - CLONE
10th - FUSION5
11th - INE
12th - DAWGS
13th - CAEK

That’s it from me guys, hope its been ok, I tried to be as unbiased as I could. Don’t flame me too much im new to these serious articles and whatnot.

Thanks
